Sponsor Children’s Day

The MRC Museum at Coonoor

There were 31 children from Smyrna Ooty who went to the MRC(Madras Regiment Centre) Museum, they are our beloved sponsor children. The museum has been dedicated to showcasing the military achievements of the regiment since its establishment. The children were accompanied by sponsor staff and travelled in two vehicles, spending half a day at the museum.

Upon arrival, the children were shown a film which detailed the training and recruitment process of the military, as well as the sports played by soldiers and the awards they receive, known as the Parmaveer Chakra award. This would have been an excellent opportunity for the children to learn about the rigorous process of becoming a soldier and the various skills and attributes required to serve in the military.

In addition to the film, the museum also had an impressive collection of old guns and military equipment from different time periods. The children would have had a chance to view these items up close and learn about their use and significance in various historical conflicts. This would have been an exciting and engaging way for the children to learn about history and gain an appreciation for the sacrifices made by soldiers throughout history.
